Two days ago, we were talking about UV photography, and today, Fujifilm is presenting the IS-1 IR, a IR+UV camera! The IS-1 is a specially modified Neo-SLR digital camera with a built-in 10.7X zoom that helps reduce dust common in interchangeable lens SLR’s. This camera is more suited to the point and shoot needs of of forensic or scientific photographers.
The big difference with “traditionnal” IR/UV photography is that the sensor has been modified here. You don’t need expensive lenses. But since unfiltered color images will retain a pink hue due to the added presence of increased red and infrared light captured, this can be eliminated by adding a hot mirror filter or UVIR cut filter to remove the presence of IR light. Yeap, that simple!
The IS-1 will be available in February for around $900, not bad at all…
